Tragedy as a construction site worker plunges to his death after a fateful climb up the side of a crane tower

A worker collapsed while climbing a crane tower at a construction site in south Perth.
The 62-year-old contractor fell from a height just before 7 a.m. local time on Friday on the grounds of the Grandton Applecross retirement complex.
St John Ambulance paramedics attempted CPR but he was unable to revive. Some reports claimed the man had suffered a medical episode.

In a statement, Dale Alcock, managing director of construction company ABN Group, said: ‘This is an incredibly sad day. Our sincere thoughts and condolences go out to his family.
“We offer them our full support at this very difficult time.”
The company offers advice to its employees and contractors on site.
Work on the site has been halted.
