Mets short stop Francisco Lindor very casually completed a double play vs. the Phillies, with his soft toss to teammate Pete Alonso bouncing twice before getting there.

In the fifth inning of New York’s eventual 4–1 win, Philly’s Edmundo Sosa lined out to Lindor after Kody Clemens had already started toward second.

That made for an easy double play for Lindor, who put much less speed into his throw than he normally would.

The pitch got the job done for the Mets, though Alonso had to scoop it off the ground.

And the piece irked Phillies broadcasters Tom McCarthy and Ben Davis, who called the game on NBC Sports Philadelphia.

“I’m not a big fan,” Davis said.

The broadcaster accused Lindor of “[rubbing] salt in the wound,” while McCarthy was also unenthusiastic, choosing not to dwell on the piece.

“It is what it is,” he said. “It was going to be a double play however he got it there.”

The win was the Mets’ second consecutive victory over the Phillies at Citi Field, which they receive for a three-game series that concludes Thursday.

New York is four games behind the league-leading Braves with a 29-27 record, while Philly got off to a rocky 25-30 start after winning the NL last year.
