Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams tweeted a heartfelt message in the wake of his side’s relegation from the Premier League.
Adams was one of the best midfielders for The Whites this season, but he underwent surgery on his hamstrings in March and missed the rest of the season.
The captain of the United States expressed his frustration with the course of the season.
“Not only have it been a tough few days thinking about what happened, it’s been a tough few months watching from the sidelines and not being able to help my team, teammates and you, the fans, keep us in the Premier League. League,” he tweeted.
“All we can say as players is we’re sorry. You have been incredible all season and deserved more.”

Adams has been one of Leeds’ top playmakers this season and has been a strong force in midfield
Adams was a staple of this Leeds United team, playing in all but three games in which he played.
Even still, those three minutes were a result of him earning a second yellow card in mid-November after 87′ of a 4-3 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
A reliable deep-lying playmaker, Adams has been a key facilitator in Leeds’ attacking play this season – although it never showed on the scoresheet in goals or assists. He was also a fiery midfield presence – often standing up for teammates.
It is unclear whether Adams will be healthy in time to play for the United States in the upcoming CONCACAF Nations League or Gold Cup competitions.
Adam’s future at the club is also uncertain – as his status as one of the top players at Leeds is likely to see suitors trying to keep him in the top flight.
