Two men have died after being run over by a ute, police reports said they were lying in the road.

“Officers from the South Coast Police District are investigating reports that the men may have been lying in the road when they were run over by a utility company operated by a 27-year-old man,” a NSW police spokesman said.

Condie Crescent appears to be a quiet suburban cul-de-sac, so it’s unclear how fast the driver was going or why the men were on the road.

The driver was taken to hospital to undergo a mandatory drug and alcohol test.

A crime scene has been cordoned off and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

Last month in Nowra, a 12-year-old boy was lying next to his bicycle on the road when a car ran over him and the driver fled.

The boy was airlifted to Sydney Children’s Hospital where he was treated for fractures to his legs, pelvis and chest.

Investigators are still waiting to talk to the boy because it’s unclear why he was on the road.
