After rumors that the pair were “allegedly” working together on the series surfaced online, the father-of-two took to Instagram to confirm the news in January.
“Yeah and you thought I was PLAYING I’m so serious man!” this is getting crazy. #bransoncognac #lecheminduroi,” 50 Cent (born Curtis James Jackson III) wrote in the post’s caption.
The photo he shared showed a screenshot of an article published by Billboard reporting the news.
Earlier in the day, the star spoke about developing the show in an interview with Big Boy TV.

He said one of the main reasons he wanted to make the show was to make sure young children became familiar with Eminem’s roots and his impact.
“I want, I’m going to bring 8 Mile to television,” he said. ‘It’s going to be big. I’m working. I have no duds. I hit 100. I think it should be there for his legacy, because it’s important to me that they understand.”
He continued, “I think it should be there for his legacy, because if you don’t see… it’s important to me that they understand, you know what I mean?”
50 Cent has been a creative force behind a number of popular shows such as the Starz series Power and its many related chapters.
He also appeared in two seasons of For Life, a crime drama that aired on ABC starting in 2020.
8 Mile was a semi-autobiographical story about Eminem’s own fame. He starred in the film as Jimmy Smith Jr, a car factory worker struggling to gain respect in the underground rap circuit.
The film won a number of awards, most notably Best Original Song for Lose Yourself at the 2003 Oscars.
8 Mile co-starred Kim Basinger, Michael Shannon and Anthony Mackie, and rappers Xzibit, Proof and Obie Trice had minor roles in the project.
