Chris Hemsworth jets out of Australia to promote film following Alzheimer’s scare

Last year, Chris Hemsworth revealed he would be scaling back his Hollywood career after discovering he is at risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

But the Aussie actor, 39, has been forced to embark on the grueling promotional journey for his upcoming Netflix action movie, Extraction 2.

The Thor star was spotted in Sydney on a private jet from Byron Bay on Monday.

Chris showed off his muscular physique in dark jeans and an open collar shirt that he wore over a white shirt as he strolled through Sydney Airport.

He was joined by his best friend Aaron Grist for the ensuing long-haul flight to Los Angeles.

Once in the terminal, Chris went incognito under a black beanie and dark sunglasses.

The work trip comes after the actor announced his film career is taking a back seat to a discovery that he is at risk for Alzheimer’s disease.

The Rush actor told Vanity Fair last November that he has decided to take “time off” after filming a confrontational episode about death in his new Disney+ docu-series Limitless.

After having blood tests done for the program, he was told he is “eight to 10 times” more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease than the general population because he is one of only two to three percent of people is with two copies of the APOE4 gene.

However, according to the CDC, there are apparently a number of steps people in his position can take to reduce their level of risk, such as making sure they get a good night’s sleep, limiting their alcohol consumption, and quitting smoking.

As a result, Chris responded to the news of his own predisposition to Alzheimer’s disease by adopting a healthier lifestyle.

“Doing an episode about death and facing your own mortality made me think, ‘Oh God, I’m not ready to go yet,'” he told the publication.

“I want to sit and be in this space with a greater sense of stillness and gratitude. And then you start talking about kids and family… It really triggered something in me to want to take some time off.”

Limitless plays on Chris’ fame through superhero movies and follows him as he pushes the limits of what his body can do.

He can be seen on the Disney+ program pursuing various physical goals, such as what Variety said was 40 pounds of weight gain for a Thor movie.

Extraction 2 will be available to stream on Netflix from June 16
