Dr. Chris Brown refuses to deny speculation he’s replacing David ‘Kochie’ Koch in Sunrise – after poaching from Ten to front mystery Seven program

It’s the question on the lips of breakfast TV fans across the country: Who will replace David ‘Kochie’ Koch as Sunrise co-host?

And there’s mounting evidence that Channel Seven’s newest recruit, Dr. Chris Brown, could be next in line for the throne.

Brown, who left Channel 10 after signing a million-dollar deal with Seven in February, significantly refused to deny speculation that he would replace Kochie during an awkward conversation with Triple M’s Mick & MG on Tuesday.

Molloy, who is also employed by Seven as host of The Front Bar, said he is confident Brown will replace Kochie after gathering the clues about his new contract.

“Your timing is, is very curious. You just got poached from 10 to the Seven network,” Molloy told Brown.

“You’ve come for a big deal. I know the actual numbers and you’re going to have to do something to justify that kind of money and I believe you are without a doubt,” he added.

Molloy also revealed that Brown specifically asked him not to talk about the Sunrise rumors before coming on the radio show.

However, Brown refused to be pressed on the issue and instead made several awkward jokes.

Kochie’s replacement will most likely be announced in the coming days as the veteran TV personality will complete his time on the show in two weeks.

Meanwhile, former Olympian Matt Shirvington is the bookies’ favorite to fill Kochie’s seat, as he’s been the breakfast show’s go-to understudy for the past few years.

The sports presenter is already the permanent host on Friday – Kochie only works four days a week – and also jumps in when one of the anchors goes on vacation.

Shirvington, known to viewers as “Shirvo,” impressed executives last year when he covered for Kochie on his annual leave and seamlessly adapted to the role.

He reportedly gained the trust of Seven’s top buyer, reports The Australian.

Going forward, Kochie’s focus will shift to a standard work schedule and enjoy a more flexible lifestyle.
