LeBron James has told Twitter he is surprised at reports that NBA referee Eric Lewis is under investigation for having a burner account that has defended him on the social media platform.
Marc Stein has claimed that the NBA is investigating the Twitter account @CuttliffBlair to find out if Lewis is behind it.
It was founded in November 2015 and in recent months seems to have only responded to tweets about the referee defending him from criticism.
It also tracks six accounts at the time of writing: four NBA accounts, a Twitter user who claims Lewis is behind the account, and the George Mason Women’s Basketball team, where Lewis’s wife is the coach.
“Is this Eric Lewis fucking true?” James wrote on Twitter on Saturday, using an emoji to replace the swear word.

Lewis has been an NBA referee for 18 seasons and has worked on more than 1,000 games
Lakers star James, 38, took to Twitter about Lewis on Saturday afternoon
On May 25, the account claimed to be operated by Lewis’ brother Mark.
In response to the Twitter account, who claimed Lewis is behind @CuttliffBlair, a tweet said, “This is MARK Lewis. Right family (older brother).
“I’m sorry I put E in this situation, but this isn’t Watergate. You are right, the account WILL come down. Twitter shouldn’t be so vengeful. Sorry for the inconvenience.’
The tweet had no evidence other than a denial to prove who exactly was behind the account.
Lewis has worked on more than 1,000 NBA regular season games and 82 playoff games in an 18-year career.
Meanwhile, James saw his season come to an end Monday night as the Lakers were swept 4-0 by Denver Nuggets.
The 38-year-old, the leading point scorer in NBA history, scored 40 points in Monday’s game, but the Lakers were beaten 113-111.
