A day before Memorial Day weekend opens, the new Hamptons hot spot burns to the ground — as police investigate what caused the blaze at a restaurant and nightclub

A restaurant in New Hamptons was destroyed by fire just days before its scheduled opening for Memorial Day weekend.
Maison Close Montauk was scheduled to open ready for the holiday weekend and begin serving customers on Friday.
But on Thursday night, just hours before opening, the restaurant caught fire and burned to the ground.
Photos taken at the scene show the building completely engulfed in flames as crews fight to fight it.
The local fire department also said the venue had patrons inside when it went up, but they all escaped safely.
Eddie Ecker, Captain of the Montauk Fire Department, told us East Hampton star: ‘When our first responders arrived, the building was completely flooded.
Firefighters said that when they arrived on scene, the entire restaurant was completely engulfed in flames
The local fire department also said the venue had patrons inside when it went up, but they all escaped safely.
Firefighters said they deployed two water tankers down a tower ladder to fight the blaze
“We responded with multiple devices: two pump trucks, two water tank trucks, our tower ladder and a couple of ambulances. There were patrons in there, but everyone was safely removed.”
Captain Ecker also told the news site that the building had been damaged beyond repair and the fire had flared up twice on Friday morning.
Chief Fire Marshal for East Hampton David Browne told DailyMail.com that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The restaurant brand launched in July 2022 in New York City’s SoHo and was “inspired by the distinct dining culture inherent in France and its celebration of shared spaces.”
In a statement, the restaurant said: ‘We are heartbroken to share that a fire destroyed the Maison Close Montauk property last night.
“Fortunately, no one was injured and we are grateful to the Montauk Fire Department for their assistance.
“We also want to thank our friends and the community for their support during this time.
“We were looking forward to bringing the unique Maison Close experience to Montauk. We come back.’

The Montauk restaurant would become the restaurant brand’s second restaurant after they opened in New York City’s SoHo in July 2022.
