Officers rushed to the crime scene at the Stewart Hotel in Midtown after responding to calls from a baby who was not breathing around 7:30 a.m. Thursday.
The hotel is one of several hotels used by city officials to house migrants as the US continues to grapple with a large influx of people pouring into the country.

The girl’s cause of death has not been released, but police say they do not suspect foul play and say there were no obvious signs of trauma.
An autopsy will be performed on Friday.
The death comes as New York officials grapple with a large influx of migrants who have been bussed into subways on the East Coast in recent weeks.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams warned in a radio appearance that up to 550 migrants are arriving in the city each day, costing officials billions.
To ease the strain on the city’s resources, Adams opted to send buses of migrants to hotels across the state, leading one establishment to cancel wedding bookings for an engaged couple just weeks before their wedding.
