- Fans say ‘best chocolate ever’
Australian foodies have gone wild for a new European chocolate brand launched Down Under.
Tony’s Chocolonely, has been dubbed the “best chocolate in the world” by Aussies who have rushed to supermarkets to grab an $8 bar.
Originating in the Netherlands, the chocolate was available in boutiques but has recently hit the shelves of Woolworth’s and Coles, much to the delight of many hungry Aussies.
It is already hugely popular across Europe and many Australians have heard the hype online.

Coles offers four different flavors of the chocolate in 200 Australian stores.
While Woolworth’s has seven different flavors available in 180 stores.
The chocolate bar was first launched in the Netherlands 13 years ago by investigative journalist Teun Van der Keuken.
Teun – also known as Tony – discovered that illegal child labor and modern slavery are still commonplace on cocoa plantations in West Africa.
From this research he decided to create the ethical chocolate brand.

Following its launch in Down Under, Aussie fans have taken to social media to call it the ‘best chocolate ever’ and ’10 times better than Cadbury’.
“One of the best chocolates around,” one wrote.
‘So much better than any Australian chocolate,’ commented another.
‘Love this chocolate. Every time I’ve been to Europe in recent years I bring a few bars with me,” said a third.

Others, however, were concerned about the price tag.
“I enjoyed this chocolate, but will buy it when it goes on sale,” said one.
“It’s really good but not worth the price,” added another.
“If I spend $8 and it’s not the best chocolate I’ve ever tried,” a third commented.
The chocolate has a higher price because of holding a slave-free chocolate chain.
