Mick Jagger wrote a heartfelt tribute to his “wonderful friend” Tina Turner after her death at the age of 83.
The 79-year-old Rolling Stones frontman had been close to Tina for decades, and the pair often teamed up for gigs.
Mick took to Twitter to share a series of throwback snaps together, writing, “I am so saddened by the passing of my wonderful friend Tina Turner. She was truly a tremendously talented artist and singer
“She was inspiring, warm, funny and generous. She helped me a lot when I was young and I will never forget her.’
Among the snaps was a photo of the pair performing in Philadelphia at a Live Aid performance in 1985 and a 1970s black-and-white photo of Mick playfully leaning against Tina, who hisses in ocelot-print leather pants and boots.

Tina was previously credited with teaching Mick how to dance – revealing to the Daily Mail in 2017 that she trained him in the Pony move in the 1960s.
She revealed, ‘Mick wanted to dance – and I was a dancer – but he never gave me credit! He said his mother taught him to dance.
“But we worked with him in the locker room, me and the girls, and we taught him how to ride a pony.”
Tina referred to Mick in the last interview before her death. Asked by The Guardian who her celebrity crush was, she confessed: ‘I always had a crush on Mick Jagger. I loved it when we toured with the Rolling Stones.”
The death of the Tennessee-born singer was confirmed on Wednesday, with her publicist saying she died at home near Zurich in Switzerland at the age of 83.
Tina died “after a long illness in her home,” her publicist Bernard Doherty said.
She was last seen in public in November 2019, attending the Broadway premiere of the musical of her life, where she needed help getting up.

She opened up about her health concerns on International World Kidney Day on March 9, revealing that she had put herself in “great danger” by not taking her 1978 hypertension diagnosis seriously.
“My kidneys are a victim of not realizing my high blood pressure should have been treated with conventional medications,” she wrote.
“I’ve put myself in grave danger by refusing to face the reality that I need daily, lifelong drug therapy.”
The March post gave a glimpse of her final days when she added, “For far too long I have believed that my body was an untouchable and indestructible bastion.”
