Former Barcelona right-back Douglas Pereira has been arrested after firing a gun into the air in a car park in Brazil.

Brazilian publication Globo Esporte have reported that the 32-year-old is on trial after the incident that allegedly took place on April 21 in the country’s capital, Brasilia.

It is alleged that the former Brazil U20 international had been drinking on a boat on Lake Paranoa – which he left after arguing with the other people on it.

From Soccer SpainDouglas then allegedly walked through a wooded area with an unauthorized weapon and came to the sports campus of Club Esportives Sul.

Facility security allegedly asked him to leave the area after he “aggressively confronted” several people — before firing the gun into the air in a parking lot.

The player then allegedly hid the gun in a busy neighborhood and was arrested by the police – although the gun was not found.

Douglas was reportedly detained and released on April 23 before facing trial in Brazil.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a complaint against Douglas for illegally carrying and firing a firearm.

He transferred from Sao Paulo to Barcelona in 2014 for a fee of around £3.4 million plus add-ons.

However, during his five years at the club, he made only eight appearances and was loaned out to Sporting Gijon, Benfica and Sivasspor.

He then went to Besiktas, where he made just seven appearances, and was without a club since leaving the Turkish side last year.
