  • Instead, Slot has promised to build on his Dutch title success with Feyenoord

Arne Slot has revealed he will stay at Feyenoord this summer, which is a major blow to Tottenham Hotspur in their search for a new manager.

The 44-year-old, whose Feyenoord side were crowned national champions earlier this month, looked set to take charge of Spurs at the end of the season.

Mail Sport understood that he had been designated by Daniel Levy as the club’s main target to replace Antonio Conte, who was sacked as head coach in March.

However, Levy appears to be falling short in his bid to get Slot away from the Netherlands, as the Feyenoord boss confirmed on Thursday that he is staying to ‘continue working on what we created last year’.

“I hear a lot of rumors that there is interest in me from other clubs,” he told the Dutch newspaper VI.

“Although I am grateful, I want to stay with Feynoord and continue to work on what we achieved last year.”

Slot has a £5 million release clause in his Feyenoord contract, although it cannot be activated until next summer.

According to The Telegraphthe Dutch champions demanded around £17 million (€20 million) in compensation for Spurs to take their manager and three members of his backroom team in assistants Marino Pusic and Sipke Hulshoff and performance coach Ruben Peeters.
