“I’d go straight to McDonald’s after that!” MasterChef viewers criticize hapless contestants for serving small portions to 120 ‘gluttonous’ firefighters during final challenge

Viewers of MasterChef read the chefs for cooking “small” portions while serving “ravenous firefighters” during the final episode on Tuesday night.

The BBC chefs were split into two teams and tasked with preparing a main course and dessert for 120 firefighters from a college of firefighters.

The eight hopefuls, who were split into a blue team, who cooked a roasted cod in a Thai coconut broth, and the red team, who cooked a venison.

The teams had some stressful moments during the episode, but worked together to complete the task and serve the dishes.

However, BBC fans pointed out that the meals would not fill the starving firefighters and joked that they would ‘go straight to McDonald’s’.

One viewer wrote, “Sorry, but when you’re a voracious firefighter, you don’t want master chef-sized portions to refuel.”

Another added: ‘The Wellington is too small for me. I would starve.”

A third quipped, “I bet all those firefighters are at McDonald’s right after this lunch!” #Chef’.

Elsewhere in the episode, contestant Chariya took her coffee cake out of the oven for her layered dessert and realized she forgot to add the eggs to the batter.

She joked, “It’s tasty, I have all the eggs here.” I don’t have time to bake another cake. We’ll have a cookie instead.”

The rest of the blue team gushed that she’s great with desserts and they trust her to come up with something.

Thinking quickly, she decided to whip mascarpone, gonache, and Italian meringue onto the cookies and add walnuts.

One firefighter gushed about the creation: “It was absolutely beautiful, can’t really fault it 10 out of 10, are there any seconds left?”

The over all winners of the semi-final was the blue team who went straight to next week’s round.

The red team had to return to the MasterChef kitchen and battle it out to create dishes using only canned goods.
