Inside Rolf Harris’s friendship with Jimmy Savile
Disgraced entertainer Rolf Harris, who has died aged 93, was a friend of fellow pedophile Jimmy Savile.
Harris was featured on Savile’s BBC show Jim’ll Fix It in 1976, joking with the pedophile about leaving a girl ‘safe in his arms’.
And in 1992, the pair were filmed talking about their careers as Harris sketched Savile while smoking a cigar.
They talked about how their paths crossed when Savile was on Radio 1 and Top of the Pops. Harris said shudderingly, “We’re going back a very long time.”

A clip from the 1996 episode of Jim’ll Fix It showed Savile a letter submitted by a girl named Lynn asking to watch Harris do one of his paintings.
The young girl was then seen on stage with the couple when Savile Harris jokingly asked if he could ‘leave her in your care?’
Harris replied, “Leave her here safe in my able hands.”
Once the drawing was completed, Savile rejoined the pair on stage as Harris told his co-host, “She’s eager to walk away.”
Savile then joked that he’ll “get her soon,” while Harris added, “Stay here and enjoy it, girl.”

During their meeting in 1992, Savile was later seen looking at Harris’s completed sketch.
In 2014, Alison Pink, an ex-convict at Broadmoor Hospital, where Savile abused dozens of patients in his volunteer role as a porter, recalled the pair lurking at vulnerable women as they got ready for bed.
Recalling the 1973 episode, Pink, who is now a man named Steven George, said, “Harris showed up out of the blue one night.
He was shown around by Savile in a subdued manner. Normally, stars only showed up when they were there for an official performance, but Harris didn’t.
“It was also unusual because visitors came on visiting hours, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., but they came in when we were getting ready for bed.”
They added that the pair were “birds of a feather.”

Savile, who was one of Britain’s biggest television stars before his death in 2011, has abused at least 72 children, some as young as eight, in a 40-year campaign of abuse.
On the same day, Harris was pictured on the Broadmoor grounds signing autographs for patients alongside Savile.
Harris was a family favorite for decades before being convicted of a series of sexual assaults in June 2014.
These include one about an eight-year-old signature hunter, two about girls in their early teens, and a catalog of abuse against his daughter’s boyfriend of over 16.
His death certificate, released today, lists causes of death as “metastatic squamous cell carcinoma of the neck” and “weakness of old age.”
Savile, who was one of Britain’s biggest television stars before his death in 2011, abused at least 72 children over a four-decade campaign, some as young as eight years old.
Speculation about his illegal exploits grew in his final years, but the extent of his abuse did not come to light until after his death.
