Peter Andre reveals the real reason why he turned down I’m A Celebrity South Africa

Peter Andre shared why he turned down the I’m A Celebrity… South Africa All Stars series.

The show aired last month and saw a celebrity host who had starred on the series for the past 21 years return for more Bushtucker Trials.

But Peter was conspicuously absent from the line-up, despite being one of the ITV show’s hottest stars.

Pete, 50, competed on I’m A Celebrity in 2004 where he fell for his now ex-wife Katie Price, 45.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Pete explained why he decided not to return for the All Stars series.

“I thought it was a great lineup and I’m glad Myleene won – she deserved it. However, I think because I went on it twice. When Fatima Whitbread came along, I got back to it,” Pete said.

“So I didn’t know if it would be a little too much [to do it again].’

Pete had returned to the jungle in 2011 on a special visit to the camp.

‘I remember [my manager] Claire came up to me and said, “We’re getting a lot of stuff,” and one of them – this was way before they chose [anyone] – and there were questions about it, and she asked me if I would be interested.

And I said “to be honest, I didn’t think it would be something that would be good, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it.”

“I’ve done another show, which is the cooking show, Cooking with the Stars, and it’s coming out next month.

“I thought cooking was something I really wanted to do, and it was a different concept from MasterChef, because with this you get a chef and you work with it.

“You cook on your own, but you get two minutes for the chef to come and help you, and I love that idea.”

Pete also talked about how he would feel if his son Junior, 17, or Princess, 15, wanted to go on Love Island when they’re older.

“I kind of told them I’d like you to try and present it instead of being a contestant, but again, I’ve always said that some great people have come out of the show,” she said .

“Look at Molly Mae and Tommy — they’ve done so well and they’ve stayed together. So much good will come out of it.’

With Junior’s 18th birthday fast approaching, Pete admitted he was “a little nervous” about his oldest son going on vacation.

“I’m a little nervous about it, but I know the people who are going, so it’s going well,” he said.

Elsewhere, Pete revealed if he plans to renew his vows to his wife Emily anytime soon.

The singer revealed he was friends with the doctor, 33, for two years before they started dating.

They married in 2015 and have two children together Amelia, nine, and Theo, five.

“I don’t think we’ll renew our vows, but I want to recreate some of it, like part of the night we had, but as we get there, we think, why don’t we just leave,” he said.
