16-year-old Pasawm Lyhym could not be brought back to life after he was reportedly stabbed Thursday afternoon at a bus stop in Sunshine in western Melbourne in front of shocked bystanders on their way home from school and work.
As the investigation into his death continues, new CCTV footage has emerged of teenagers appearing to be involved in an altercation leading up to the incident.
A terrified Pasawm is seen running for his life from the scene, while two other teenagers reportedly chase him with knives.
One of the boys chasing him was still wearing a school uniform and carrying a backpack.
It comes as new details about Pasawm emerge as a stream of tributes to the aspiring trader continues.
Melbourne teenager Pasawm Lyhym died in an alleged confrontation on Thursday
Pasawm’s family, the youngest of four children, arrived in Australia as refugees from Myanmar.
The family is actively involved in Melbourne’s Chin community.
“He was a nice kid, funny at times, very friendly,” Ward Representative Robert Sang told Nine News.
“This is the first time that the Chin community has experienced a tragic incident like this.”
Pasawm attended Staughton College and dreamed of becoming a carpenter.
“The Staughton College community is shocked by the senseless death of one of our students at Sunshine yesterday,” said Principal David Lord.
‘We put our arms around that student’s family and friends and make sure that students and staff get all the support they need.’

A 17-year-old man and an 18-year-old man have been questioned by police in connection with Pasawm’s death and released pending further investigation.
No charges have been filed.
Victoria Police are urging a third teenager, believed to be involved in the altercation, to come forward.
Police are on high alert amid fears Pasawm’s death could spark retaliatory attacks in Melbourne’s west.
Community leaders working with at-risk youth have expressed concern about the rising number of boys as young as 11 armed with knives.
“It’s like carrying cell phones to them. They carry them (knives) because they are afraid. They think they’re going to get jumped,” Les Twentyman said.
The armed teens who chased the teenager were apprehended at a Sunshine bus stop shortly after the fatal altercation
Pasawm Lyhym is remembered as a ‘funny, very nice, hospitable and friendly person’
He had called for the return for a mesam nest he helped coordinate with police in western Melbourne two decades ago.
“We got 52 guns back in two hours,” Mr. Twentyman recalled.
“But it didn’t get any further.”
Several commuters witnessed the alleged attack, including Pasawm’s cousin.
“I yelled and said that’s him, that’s him [her cousin],” she said to the Announce sun.
“I tried to run and get help. I didn’t want to look. It all happened so fast.’
Pasawm’s older brother Mawn added: “He was funny, very kind, a welcoming and friendly person,” he said.
Emergency services were called to Station Place in western Melbourne at about 3:45pm on Thursday and are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident
