Legendary rapper and four-time Grammy award-winning recording artist Lil Wayne has weighed in on the continued Ja Morant gun critique during an appearance on Showtime’s ‘All smoke‘Podcasting.
Aside from his largely successful rap career, which has earned him a total of 143 awards and 211 nominations, Wayne also holds a long-standing arrest record for multiple gun charges.
Throughout his performance, Wayne made several strong points, the most relevant of which stemmed from his saying that many of the people who speak on Morant don’t really know the player personally.
‘Do you know that boy? Because I don’t,” Wayne said emphatically. “I know him from dunking and jumping, and I didn’t get to know him until I started watching him in his senior year of college.
“He comes from a town of 3,000 people. As? What do you all expect? You gave him $200 million. I just said, a city of 3,000 people. Do you expect him to be responsible? Now we are tripping.
Legendary rapper Lil Wayne recently commented on the ongoing Ja Morant saga, saying to many of those criticizing him, “You guys know that kid? Because I do not’

‘That’s magic. ‘Cause I could tell you right now, I come from a really well-behaved, beautiful mother, nice, you know what I mean?
My mom would bust her ass to make sure everything around me was nice, and I was still a dork. I shot myself. And that young man, I imagine I came from a goddamn place with 3,000 people and I became who I am.’
It is well documented that Wayne suffered a self-inflicted gun wound to the chest as a child.
For years he had claimed the incident was an accident, only to finally reveal it was a near-successful suicide attempt where his life was saved by the split-second decisions of a police officer who chose to rush him to hospital instead of waiting. for an ambulance.
Despite his acclaimed musical career winning over 140 awards, Wayne has also had gun problems
He was pardoned by Donald Trump in January 2021, following a December 2020 gun arrest in FL
Podcast co-host and 2003 NBA champion Stephen Jackson followed up Wayne’s comments by simply saying “if they had social media when I was growing up I wouldn’t have made it.”
Earlier in the conversation, Wayne made other comments about how Morant’s position as the breadwinner within his team is likely to affect things as well.
“The best I could do is remember when I was younger and my homies, my team, my n***** around me, at the age when they have no money.
‘I’m the one with the money, and I don’t even know how much money I’ll end up with, but I’m the one with some money in my pocket – I know I have a bright future.
My homies, they’re not on the payroll. They are my homies, they live well when they are with me. If I have to go to work and stuff, they have to get back to being who they are supposed to be.
“So I say that to say, them on those streets and I was aware of that. So if I was experiencing something at the time, something public, I could imagine the rebellious attitude I would have if my homies fueled that attitude.
“I wish one… one would tell me something. I look at Zion [Williamson]. People begging him to lose weight and get in better shape, I wish someone would tell me something. Do you know how much money I have, boy? Just like this.’
