IN MAN CITY’S LOCKER ROOM TITLE PARTY: Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez lead frenzied players singing “We Are the Champions” as Rodri celebrates with beer and Bernardo Silva feasts on pizza

Manchester City’s title-winning side celebrated on the pitch in the dressing room after lifting the Premier League trophy for the third consecutive year on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola secured the title for his side with three games remaining and plenty of preparation time for his side to reset ahead of their post-season campaigns in the FA Cup and Champions League.

But before the team refocuses on their hunt for a historic Treble, there was time for the players to get swept up in their performance and kick off what could be a summer of partying.

Long after the final whistle, the squad gathered in the Etihad changing rooms, where Jack Grealish and Julian Alvarez led their frenzied teammates in a rendition of ‘We Are the Champions’ – Queen’s original reverberation from the loudspeakers.

Pictures from Sky Sports showed the players having exchanged their jerseys for special editions of their first kit, not with their name on it, but ‘Champions – 23’ to commemorate the season’s achievements.

They were joined in their festivities by kitman Brandon Ashton, who memorably celebrated City’s 2019 victory by stripping down to his underwear and launching himself into a laundry basket.

Rodri cracked open a beer which he raised in the air as he was dragged into the merry-go-round in the middle of the locker room.

Although he is now 18, academy star Rico Lewis sipped a sports drink as he watched the party unfold around him.

Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias chewed on pizza, but that didn’t stop the Portugal international from being drawn into the surging crowd by Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

The players were clearly delighted with their performance, hugging and waving to the beat of the music, but their celebrations drew sharp artistic criticism from expert Micah Richards.

The former Man City player thought the singing was ‘awful’ as the cameras left the players to their merrymaking.

“Like strangled cats!” teased Richards.

After the final whistle of their 1-0 win over Chelsea, Kyle Walker had alluded to the festivities to come.

“We’ll have a few glasses of champagne,” the defender admitted. “But then we move on to June,” adding that he was adamant that the team’s definition of success was winning their first ever Champions League trophy and claiming the second ever Treble in English football.

“We have two huge finals,” he continued. “To say we are among the best Premier League teams of all time, we have to capture some of that. We’ve been called the Fourmidables and the Centurions, but by getting this we can really put our stamp on one of the best teams of all time in the Premier League.’

Walker and his teammates were unable to celebrate on the pitch immediately after referee Michael Oliver called time for their draw with their West London opponents after fans ran down from the stands and invaded the pitch.

Players from both sides were quickly escorted to and from the tunnel by security shortly after the final whistle as supporters flooded the ground.
