A protester wearing a dress in the colors of the Ukrainian flag staged a dramatic protest on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet tonight, pouring fake blood on herself before being dragged away by security.
In an apparent show of support for the war-torn country, the unidentified young woman dipped herself in a red substance during the premiere of Just Philippot’s film ‘Acide’.
The woman appeared on the red carpet alongside A-listers in a floor-length blue and yellow ballgown.
She then appeared to reach into her dress before pulling out a capsule of fake blood, which rose above her head and burst as she smiled for the cameras.
The demonstration came after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today compared the violent destruction of parts of his country by the Russian invaders to the devastation in Hiroshima.

During tonight’s protest, security at the star-studded festival dragged the protester, who was completely submerged in fake blood, off the carpet.
It has not yet been confirmed whether the shocking demonstration was a condemnation of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or why it took place during the premiere of the French director’s movie ‘Acide’.
A similar protest was staged by a Ukrainian at last year’s film festival, when a woman took to the red carpet to send a scathing message about the actions of Vladimir Putin’s troops.
The protester crashed onto the red carpet fully clothed, reports said, before stripping down to reveal she was wearing body paint that read “Stop raping us.”
She was also plastered with a Ukrainian flag and had the word “scum” written on her back.
The woman staged her protest during the premiere of George Miller’s Three Thousand Years Of Longing on the fourth day of the prestigious event.
Today’s protest came as the eyes of the world focused on the southern French city, where glamorous celebrities flocked to the red carpet for the 76th annual film festival.
This year’s festival comes against the backdrop of protests amid unrest across France following Emmanuel Macron’s decision to raise the state pension age.

Police in Cannes have cracked down on all forms of protest in the area around the festival in order to ‘ensure public order’.
The festival has traditionally served as a backdrop for protests, but authorities are determined to stamp out any problems before it has even started amid ongoing unrest over pension reforms across the country.
Now, in an unusual move, all demonstrations and gatherings on public roads have been banned for the duration of the festival by the region’s Alpes-Maritimes prefecture.
