Guy Pearce returns to Neighbours as character Mike Young for Amazon reboot 

Guy Pearce is about to make a surprise return to Neighbors, reprising his role as Mike Young in the upcoming Channel 10 show reboot.

Executive producer Jason Herbison confirmed on Saturday that Pearce would reprise his role in the Channel 10 show, which was rebooted in April and is being filmed in Melbourne.

“We are thrilled that Guy is returning to continue Mike and Jane’s reunion, it was a highlight of last year’s finale and there is definitely more to tell about these beloved characters,” Herbison said in a statement to The sun messenger.

Pearce, 55, returned to Neighbors for the show’s finale last July, as Mike Young.

His character, along with Jane Harris (played by Annie Jones), was seen buying a house in Ramsay Street during the show’s final episode.

In light of the show’s resurgence, Pearce confirmed on Nine’s Good Weekend podcast that he would be returning to the series, to shed light on Mike and Jane’s storyline about their home and romantic relationship.

Rekindling his on-screen relationship with Jane Harris, played by Annie Jones, Mike, Pearce’s character, played an important role in the final episodes of the show.

By the end of these episodes, his character had bought a house and returned to Ramsay Street.

Despite Pearce’s booming career since debuting on Neighbors as a 17-year-old novice, his return to the show has been a remarkable display of goodwill.

However, when Amazon and Ten revealed four months later that they had teamed up to revive the show, Pearce’s magnanimity had unintended consequences.

Pearce expressed his surprise at this development during an interview for the Good Weekend Talks podcast.

He and Jones discussed the situation, and although Jones was confirmed for the show, Pearce was still unsure about his storyline.

While admitting he felt somewhat ambushed by the offer, Pearce expressed satisfaction with returning to the show, describing it as the “gift that keeps on giving.”
