How to get the Rubber Armor in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomthe Rubber armor set is scattered across Hyrule, and it takes some time and caving to get all the pieces. Each piece is tucked away in a cave and guarded by a number of challenging monsters, so be sure to bring stamina and health-restoring resources along with a hefty supply of arrows.
However, the result is more than worth the effort. The Rubber Armor set reduces the damage taken by electricity and prevents you from getting spooked – essential for your battle against beasts like the Thunder Gleeok. Here you will find the Rubber Armor set Tears of the Kingdom.
Location of the chestpiece of the rubber armor
You can use the Rubber armor brisket early in the game shortly after he first landed back in Hyrule. This part of the set is in Whistling Hill Cavea small cave system between Whistling Hill and Lake Kolomo, immediately north of Teniten Shrine.
You are specifically looking for this cave:
Use a hammer or bomb to unblock the entrance and step inside. To your left is another pile of stones. Some gems and two Electric Keith stand behind it. Keep going until the path gives way to a drop. Three Bokoblin Skeletons rest below. Treat them however you like, but know that there’s a bomb flower to your right that makes the process much easier.
The path will lead you to an open room. To your right is an alcove blocked by vines, which hides a chest containing a traveler’s shield. Grab that and then climb up the wall on the other side of the room. The path ahead is a slope with a Like-Like on the top. It spits out three large boulders in quick succession, and getting hit by one removes a significant number of hearts.
Wait until the last boulder is gone and then quickly run up the slope. You can safely ignore the Like-Like afterwards. It continues to spit stones, but due to the structure of the room they can’t really reach you.
Break in the rocks for some gems and get the bomb flowers on the wall. Destroy the rocks blocking the way forward. The next room is full of pee, with an electric Like-Like waiting for you on the other side. This one spits out several lightning balls, so make sure you stay out of the puddles.
Wait for the Like-Like to expose its red core, then fire an arrow at that core. Equip your strongest weapon to make short work of the creature as it lays down. Blow up the wall behind it and get the Rubber Armor chest piece, which provides shock resistance and +3 defense, from inside the chest.
Location of the headpiece of the rubber armor
Getting to the headpiece takes a bit more effort and, depending on how much of the map you’ve explored so far, potentially a lot of legwork too. The Rubber rudder lies deep within the Sarjon cave, on the eastern edge of the Faron region. If you’ve already traveled to Faron, the quickest way to reach Sarjon Cave is to quickly travel to Lakeside Stable (via Joju-uu Shrine) and head northwest.
If not, unlock Popla Foothills’ Skyview Tower, cook three or four stamina-replenishing meals, and slide southeast from the tower. Here’s the cave:
You’re looking for this:
The cave is essentially an underground waterway with curtains of vines blocking each section. The first few segments have ledges on the side where you can stop and restore stamina.
You will occasionally encounter some electrical Terrible ones hanging on the roof. The best way to deal with this is to point an arrow at their head and shoot. The Horriblins will fall into the water and drown. Fuse a Keese Eyeball to the arrow if you’re having trouble aiming, Fuse a Keese Eyeball to your arrow to give it a homing effect.
Once you reach a larger room with some palm trunks, that’s your cue to build a raft. From there there are no ledges and you won’t make it to the end by swimming, even with an extra endurance wheel. Attach a fan to the back of your makeshift raft to speed things up.
You’ll cruise through a few more chambers, each with one or two Horriblins, until you finally reach a rougher section with rapids that give way to a waterfall.
Make sure to attack the Bubbulfrog and get his Bubbul Gem, then follow the path to a room where the Rubber rudder – granting +3 defense in addition to shock resistance – wait.
Destroy the stones behind the chest to get precious gems before you leave.
Location of rubber armor legs
The Rubber Tights are located in a cave in Horon Lagoon, east of Lanayru Reservoir. If you’ve visited Apogek Shrine or Yomizuk Shrine, make a quick trip back to them for easy access. You can also launch yourself out of the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower and slide east. Here’s where to go:
And this is how your approach looks from above:
This cave is relatively simpler and less deadly than the others, although you still need a stamina recovery meal to make it to the end, plus a bomb flower, which can be found inside
Slide down into the cave and swim until you reach a large rock. Stop there for a moment to restore your stamina and then keep swimming forward.
The tunnel opens into a small chamber with another rock formation in the middle. The back half of the formation is covered with pointed stone spikes that can damage you if you touch them, so don’t.
Swim forward and use a bomb flower to clear the way. The box with the Rubber tightswhich provide +3 defense and some shock resistance is in the next room.
