Barclays announces closures of 12 more branches – see if your local bank is on the list

Barclays has announced the closure of a further 12 bank branches in England and Wales, another blow to customers who value face-to-face banking.

The latest closures, which follow 15 other sites that were revealed to close last month, will take place in August.

Two branches in Birmingham and one in Windsor, Worksop, Biggleswafe and Frome are all expected to close within the next three months.

Locations in Brecon, Newark, Framlingham, Diss, Harleston and Wilmslow will also be closed, forcing customers to go elsewhere for in-person services.

A Barclays spokesperson said: “As branch visits continue to decline, we must adapt to provide the best service to all our customers.

“If there is no longer enough demand to support an affiliate, we will continue to have a personal presence through our Barclays Local network, living in over 200 locations, located in libraries, town halls, mobile vans and our new banking pods.

“We also support access to cash with our no-purchase cashback service, 24-hour ATMs and by working with the Post Office and Cash Access UK.”
