A 17-year-old boy has been released pending further inquiries as homicide detectives pursue the stabbing incident of a schoolboy in western Melbourne.
Pasawm Lyhym, 16, died after being stabbed near Sunshine Station around 3:45pm on Thursday.
Police say two other boys, both 16, were injured in the altercation, with one treated at the scene and the other taken to hospital.
On Friday, a 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the investigation, but Victoria Police have revealed he was released without charge the following morning.

A second teen turned himself in Friday night after police held a press conference saying two other men had been identified as suspects.
“We are encouraging those two men to contact local police and make sure they present themselves at a police station to turn themselves in,” Detective Janet Stevenson said.
“There was one group of school kids from one school in one area and there was this aggressive group of guys and they looked like they were there for a purpose.
“It didn’t look like an organized fight.”
The second man, 18, was released after an interview.

“They’re school kids around 15 or 16 years old and they know each other,” she said.
“They met near the Sunshine bus station and there was an altercation.”
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said investigators continued to search for a third boy and urged him to come forward.
“Detectives are still trying to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and the motivation for the altercation,” she said.

The male figure, dressed in a black coat and blue face mask, can be seen in the video footage walking down alleyways holding a large machete-like object.
Pasawm’s death has left his community reeling, with a steady stream of mourners laying tributes at the crime scene.
His brother, Mawn Lyhym, described the 16-year-old as a good and kind person.
“He was funny, very nice, a welcoming and friendly person,” Mr. Lyhym said The Herald Sun.

David Lord, the principal of Staughton College, where Pasawm studied, said the school community was reeling after his death.
“The Staughton College community is shocked by the senseless death of one of our students at Sunshine yesterday,” he said.
‘We put our arms around that student’s family and friends and make sure that students and staff get all the support they need.’
