Mohammed Krayem jailed for rape, after fiancee ex Monica Young had sex with 14-year-old student
A tradie has been convicted of raping a teenager nearly two years after his teacher’s ex-fiance was convicted of having sex with her 14-year-old student.
Mohammed ‘Moey’ Krayem, 24, was sentenced on Friday to up to 17 months behind bars at Sydney’s Downing Center Court.
Krayem, a road worker, had pleaded guilty to three counts of unauthorized sexual intercourse after raping a then 19-year-old woman in his car in a car park in Chullora, western Sydney, in August 2020.
The court heard he engaged in oral and digital sex with the victim and penetrated her with his penis – all without her consent – after the pair arranged to meet via Snapchat.
Krayem was once engaged to Monica Young, who worked as a geography teacher and is now serving a prison sentence for having sex with a child three times.

Seven weeks after Young’s last sexual encounter with the boy, Krayem lured his victim into the mall parking lot.
Krayem appeared in court Friday in his prison greens via video link.
When asked how Young’s behavior had affected him, Krayem said he was “blind.”
“It was huge in my life, it was something I didn’t see coming, it blindsided me,” he told the court.
“One morning I saw it on the news. It went from me almost getting married to this girl until she did things that I don’t approve of and that I don’t respect.’
Krayem said his mental health suffered greatly and he is now taking medication for anxiety and depression.
When the allegations first emerged, Krayem had been standing by his girlfriend for six years, after they met in high school.
Young (above) and Krayem were engaged when she first had sex with the 14-year-old boy on June 24, 2020. That was two days after Krayem first contacted his victim
In the days after Young pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child, Krayem posted a “message to the haters” on his Facebook page dedicated to Young.
He uploaded a video of him kissing her on the cheek, captioning it as “my always and forever,” before posting a separate photo of Young adorned with a love heart.
Krayem had split with Young at the time, but told Daily Mail Australia at the time, “I’m going to be by her side no matter what the outcome is. I’ll always be next to her.’
During his sentencing on Friday, Krayem said he cut off all contact with Young after she pleaded guilty.
“I supported her during the first week in custody as a supportive fiancée, but once the facts came out I realized the allegations against her were the truth,” he said.
‘She had denied it. It was blinding, she never told me the truth, how could she?
“I was with her for several years, it was devastating and my family was good to her. It was nauseating.’
Young and Krayem were childhood sweethearts and were engaged to be married when she first had sex with the 14-year-old boy on June 24, 2020.
Krayem had initially supported Young after the allegations surfaced, but said in court on Friday that she had “blindsided” him
That was just two days after Krayem made first contact with his victim and Young had been teaching for only three months.
Young and the boy had sex several times over the next two weeks, including at least twice on school grounds and once in her car at a park.
She was sentenced to a maximum of four years and nine months in prison in July 2021.
In sentencing Krayem on Friday, Judge Peter Berman SC took his young age into account and accepted that he had shown genuine remorse for his crime.
A poignant victim impact statement was read to the court, in which the victim revealed the catastrophic effects Krayem’s attack had on her.
She described in detail how the incident had “irrevocably” changed her life, explaining that she has countless nightmares every night and can never sleep peacefully.
“I mourn the life I lived”: the victim’s harrowing statement
She no longer trusts those around her, including her husband, family and friends, and struggles with severe anxiety and depression.
“I saw beauty in everything and everyone, everything was exciting, everything had life,” she said.
“I remember everything I was before this trauma and I cry. I mourn the life I lived and the life I could have lived if this hadn’t happened.”
The victim also spoke of her severe paranoia that her perpetrator would attack her again, revealing that she constantly had nightmares that he was in her room watching her.
“I am disgusted by the contrast between the girl I was and the girl I stand before you today,” she said.
“The ugly truth is I can’t trust anyone anymore. I miss going to the movies and not feeling like he’s watching me ready to attack again.
“It dawns on me that this sense of isolation I feel will stay with me until I die.”
Her self-esteem has declined so much since the event that the victim said she couldn’t bear to even look at herself in the mirror.
“My own husband has triggered me by just being around me when I’m not in my senses, even he can’t help me when I panic,” she continued.
“No woman should feel this way around her husband, friends or family.
“No time or place in my life has felt safe since the attack.”
The victim struggles to leave the house, answer the door when friends come to check in, and says she has a daily fear of being in a room with more men than women.
Krayem messaged the 19-year-old woman on August 24, 2020 via Snapchat to arrange a face-to-face meeting for a sexual encounter. He asked her to wear a skirt and no shoes
Krayem closed his eyes during moments of the victim impact statement before he had a chance to speak.
“I’m glad I got the chance to see the victim, talk to her, I’m devastated by the choice I made at the time. It was reckless,” he said.
“I am sorry, remorse, sometimes I cry myself to sleep thinking I have hurt someone.
“Normally I’m not the type of person who would hurt anyone. I’m so disappointed in myself. I come from a good family.”
Krayem said he had participated in programs with permission and was a “much better” person than the man he was at the time of the attack.
The court heard that he was beaten by three inmates while in custody, resulting in stitches under his eyebrow. Krayem said a prison guard leaked his charges.
Krayem first contacted his victim on June 22, 2020 under the Snapchat name ’emkayd69er’, claiming to be a construction site manager whose father was a millionaire businessman.
According to a fact sheet submitted to the court, communication between the couple became more frequent and included messages, photos and videos of a sexual nature.
Eventually there was a disagreement and the pair stopped talking but resumed messaging on Snapchat two months later.
The couple met up in the parking lot with Krayem, who told the woman he had little time left and asked her to wear a skirt for their relationship.
“And don’t wear shoes,” he wrote. “I want to see those toes.”
The court heard the couple began kissing in his car, but Krayem then proceeded to verbally, digitally and vaginally rape the woman.
The encounter lasted just under 18 minutes and ended when Krayem’s mother called him.
“Oh, that’s my mother,” he said.
The victim then said, “I’m going,” and Krayem replied, “Yes, do you mind?”
The pair drove off separately and the victim told a friend what had happened on the way home.
She filed a report with the Marrickville Police Department and Krayem was arrested and charged nine months later on April 26, 2021.
Judge Berman said his jail term would be retroactively extended to February 12 this year.
Taking into account the time already served, Krayem could be paroled on October 20 of this year.
His ex-fiancée will be eligible for parole on October 31 this year.
