Model Jessica Gomes stuns in white as she walks in the We Wear Australian show during Fashion Week – after being told she was ‘too curvy’ for the runway

Jessica Gomes did what she does best on Friday.

The model walked in the runway show We Wear Australian x Afterpay during the Afterpay Australian Fashion Week in Sydney.

The 37-year-old looked stunning in a casual yet high-end ensemble consisting of a white T-shirt under a flowing, tasseled jacket in a cream textured fabric.

Jessica’s outfit added some boho edge with a pair of crochet short shorts in brown, as well as a pair of nude strappy heels.

The beauty wore her hair pulled back from her face and sported a warm makeup look with a muted pink lipstick.

As accessories, she had a number of flowing necklaces, made of rope and beads, slung around her neck and down her body.

In the past, Jessica has been open about being labeled “too curvy” by the fashion industry during her early days as a model.

She told Stellar magazine in 2021 how an encounter in 2006 left her feeling deeply demoralized.

Jessica, who is of Portuguese, Singaporean and Chinese descent, attended a casting in New York City where the director sighed and poked her breasts after trying her on in an outfit.

She remembered him saying, “It’s too tight. Your breasts are too big.’

“I felt really bad about myself,” Jessica told the magazine. “I was hit back by a lot of fashion brands because I was too curvy.”

In retrospect, the rejection turned out to be a blessing, and Sports Illustrated booked her shortly after.

“My agent was like, ‘Don’t worry, Sports Illustrated just booked you. They love your boobs. They’re awesome! So you’re going to do that,'” she recalls.

After modeling for over two decades, Jessica is now busier than ever, not only for fashion campaigns, but also for business and acting.
