An American man is shocked after drinking Australian coffee for the first time.

Olympic water polo player Tilly Kearns said she told her American boyfriend Justin Dedich that Australian coffee was “much better” than what’s served in the US, but he “didn’t believe her.”

After landing in Sydney for a week, the American athlete decided to take Justin to try a cappuccino.

In one video, Justin stirs the velvety coffee before smelling it, taking a sip, and passing judgment.

“It’s all right, Matilda, it’s all right,” he said.

Tilly, the daughter of Rugby Union legend Phil Kearns, then laughs at her boyfriend’s reaction.

Dozens of people quickly took to the comments to berate Justin — who attends USC in California with Tilly and plays college football — for stirring the coffee.

“Now teach him to stop stirring and sip through the froth,” one wrote.

“He stirs the coffee, he should have his visa revoked,” said another.

“His face says it all on that second sip,” wrote a third.

“He shouldn’t have stirred lol but Oz coffee is the best,” added another.

“They don’t make real coffee in the US at all, it’s all filtered disappointment in a cup,” a fifth wrote.

In June, an American tourist was criticized online for claiming that Australian coffee ‘isn’t worth the hype’.

Travel blogger Erin Fang posted a video to TikTok of her top four things tourists shouldn’t do when they land in Australia, telling them not to fall for the coffee.

Her clip has been viewed more than 120,000 times and received a flood of reactions from outraged Australians.

In the clip, she first advises tourists not to go to the Opera House for photos, but instead hop on the Manly Ferry for the best view of Sydney’s iconic landmark.

“Next time don’t fall for the coffee. Honestly, we heard Melbourne had the best coffee, but it just didn’t live up to the hype,” said Erin, who spent a month traveling Australia.

“But if you must spend one, definitely go for Patricia’s.”
