Epic Games Store will now reward you 5% back on game purchases
Epic announced today that purchases from the Epic Games Store will give gamers 5% back in new Epic rewards. All Epic Games Store accounts are automatically enrolled to receive the rewards (except those whose parental controls block purchases), which can be used to get discounts on future purchases. It’s similar to how Nintendo’s eShop on the Switch gives out gold coins for game purchases.
After your purchase of a game, app, add-on or a virtual currency (Fortnite‘s V-Bucks, for example), a reward worth 5% of the total cost will be deposited into your Rewards balance after two weeks (two weeks mark the end of the platform’s return policy). Epic says some subscription purchases are also eligible for rewards. You can spend rewards as soon as you receive them, or bank them for up to 25 months from when they were first received. These rewards can be stacked on top of discounts and coupons.
This news coincides with the launch of the Epic Games Store mega sale, which not only cuts the cost of many titles, but also marks the return of the “Epic Coupon” that automatically gives you 25% off any eligible game costing more than $14.99. A full list of eligible titles was not shared, but Epic name drops like The last of us Part 1 And Hogwarts legacy as being two that will activate the coupon. The sale period, which runs through June 15, offers four free games (Death stranding is the first to be launched today).
