Urgent recall of Smith’s chips across Australia: ‘Don’t eat this product’

  • One of the country’s most popular brands is the subject of a recall

An urgent recall has been issued for Smith’s snack-sized chips packs sold in five Australian states.

Smith’s Snackfood Company Pty Ltd recalled the products in NSW, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and WA due to the ‘potential presence of foreign matter’ – bits of plastic.

Food products containing pieces of plastic can cause illness/injury when consumed, Food Standards Australia warned.

Smith’s Cheese and Onion in 45g and 170g packs, Smith’s Original Six Pack and Smith’s Original 19g packs in the 20 pack fun mix are all subject to the recall.

The cheese and onion products are marked best before September 10, 2023.

The original products can be used until September 10, 2023.

Food Standards Australia and New Zealand said: ‘Consumers should not eat this product and should contact Smith’s Snackfood Company to arrange a full refund.’
