A Colorado cardiologist has been accused of date rape by 10 different women after he was initially accused of sexually assaulting a woman he met on the dating app Hinge, filming women he drugged and attempting to rape them. blackmail with revenge porn.
Stephen Matthews, 35, was initially arrested in April after allegations he had sexually assaulted a woman.
On Monday, after attending a hearing in Denver on one complaint, he was arrested on the steps of the courthouse after other prosecutors made similar allegations.
The first accuser said that after they matched on the popular dating app, they went out and got drunk, after which she says he drugged and raped her, according to an affidavit.
Matthews has denied the allegations, saying he and the woman had consensual sex.
After the accusation went public, another woman came forward to accuse Matthews of doing the same thing after also meeting him on Hinge.

The second woman said she met Matthews at a bar before going to his house, where she was offered a tequila and soda before going to the bathroom.
After drinking some of it, she started feeling “off balance,” which also claimed Matthews was filming her at one point.
She said she didn’t remember much after that, but got sick while taking an Uber home. The woman believes Matthews sexually assaulted her.
When the doctor was initially accused, the police may have asked more victims to come forward.
Another eight women eventually accused Matthews of sexual assault, with many of the same patterns emerging over the course of the past four years. There was one alleged attack last January.
Many of the women reported blacking out after drinking with Matthews and several accuse him of assault.
A prosecutor said Matthews “sent her pictures of her naked in the hot tub” after she refused to see him again. Another said she woke up with bite marks on her arms.

The cardiologist was immediately handcuffed and taken to a Denver jail.
He now faces 16 felony charges against the 10 accusers, including charges of assault of a helpless victim, assault without consent, assault of an incapacitated victim, and second-degree assault involving the drugging of women.
Police executed a search warrant Monday at Matthews’ home in Denver, with someone carrying evidence to his car.
Douglas Cohen, a lawyer for Matthews, has said his client is innocent, he said CBS news.
“He would have done things,” Cohen said Monday. “Lots of people would do things — I’ll leave it at that.”
In an interview, one of the first victims said Matthews has “obviously been doing this for a long time, in a similar way and it’s terrifying.”
