Eerie photos show one-beautiful Michigan hotel completely trashed by vandals after it closed

Eerie photos show a beautiful Michigan hotel that was completely vandalized just two years after it closed during COVID lockdown

  • A TikToker who specializes in visiting beautiful buildings recently returned to a hotel he first visited in 2021
  • In the next two years it was abandoned and then victim of vandals
  • The lobby of the building has been ransacked and guards have now been deployed to prevent further damage

An explorer who often captures beautiful buildings returned to a Michigan hotel he had stayed in before, only to find it closed and badly vandalized.

The TikToker, which uses the handle @true_exploresvisited the unknown hotel in 2021 and was impressed with how it looked despite some obvious signs of decay and mold in one of the hotel pools.

But Bobby, the Michigan native who runs the account, came back in 2023 to find it closed during the pandemic and completely after it closed, with the lobby looking like it had almost completely flipped.

Bobby made it a point to explain that this is exactly why he never reveals the location of the buildings he visits.

It’s unclear exactly why the hotel closed, according to Bobby, who is headquartered in Detroit.

“I think the hotel was already struggling to get customers and the pandemic has completely bankrupted them,” he said.

Bobby was upset by the destruction, calling it “one of the freshest abandoned places I’ve explored” the first time he went.

The hotel was left more or less intact, noting that there were still bottles of alcohol, TVs and pianos.

While he started noticing mold in the pool and flooding in the basement, he likened his return to an episode of The Walking Dead, saying it was “very apocalyptic.”

‘Everything has been left behind. Very interesting, but also very disturbing, knowing that all the stuff that was left behind just got lost,” he added.

He blamed the owner of the hotel, noting that they probably own several other buildings in the area.

“I believe the owner of this hotel owned many other properties as well and just left it in oblivion,” Bobby said.

“They saw no value in selling everything and trying to sell the building.”

The building has since been boarded up and security details are now in place to prevent further vandalism.

Commentators on the video shared how unfortunate it was and that they would have loved to visit themselves.

“It’s sad because true urban explorers like me want to preserve the places, not destroy them,” Bobby added.
