Chelsea midfielder Christian Pulisic and compatriot Taylor Booth from Utrecht are on Italian champions Napoli’s radar.

The president of the Serie A club, film producer Aurelio de Laurentiis, wants to add Americans to his roster, not only for sporting reasons, but also to create commercial opportunities.

Pulisic is available this season as he has one year left on his contract and is frustrated by his lack of regular starts.

Manchester United and Newcastle expressed interest in the US captain in January, but this summer Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli have made tentative inquiries.

Chelsea could still use the 24-year-old in exchange deals with Victor Osimhen as targets, among others.

Booth, who was also closely followed by Erik ten Hag at Manchester United this season, is receiving rave reviews in the Dutch league with Utrecht.

The 21-year-old, who previously played for Bayern Munich, excels in an attacking midfield role and was named Eredivisie player of the month in November.

Speaking to La Repubblica, Napoli president De Laurentiis said: “I would like to add more players. I would like to have an American, because in America, even if the league is worth little, there are great players who shine on the national team.

“And then a Japanese, who already has a Korean in the team, as our football in the East is developing great and there are new names to consider.”
