The decision to part ways comes as a surprise as the Dubois and McGuigan were preparing to take on Usyk this summer after a successful two-year partnership.

Dubois is gearing up for a rendezvous with Usyk, who currently holds three of the four recognized heavyweight championships, having been officially designated by the WBA as his mandatory challenger earlier this month.
The British star has taken advantage of Usyk’s failure to negotiate a mega fight with WBC king Tyson Fury, which initially took precedence over his mandatory duties as it would have crowned an undisputed champion.
A fight against Usyk would be the biggest of Dubois’ career to date – with 19 wins and 18 knockouts, with his only loss coming against compatriot Joe Joyce in November 2020.
Despite leading Joyce on the scorecards at the time, Dubois knelt and retired in the 10th round after suffering a broken eye socket. Since then, he has recorded four straight victories.
His latest win proved harder than expected when heavy underdog Kevin Leera knocked him down three times in the first round at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
It was later revealed that Dubois suffered a knee injury during that opener, which the WBA had to review before officially ordering his world title shot. Nevertheless, Dubois secured an injury victory in the third round.
