At least three people were killed and two officers injured in a shooting in Farmington, New Mexico.
According to the local New Mexico newspaper, a suspect is said to have two pistol-type weapons The news. They were killed on the spot and there is no continuing threat, police said.
Multiple citizens and Farmington Police Department officers were involved in the shooting, which occurred around 11 a.m. Monday morning, the department said in a statement.
Two officers were shot, one from the Farmington Police Department and one from the New Mexico State Police.
Both were taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center and treated for their injuries, but are said to be in stable condition.
At around 2 p.m., Farmington police dismissed early reports that there was more than one suspect, saying all lockdowns had been lifted.

The shooting occurred near Brookside Park in Farmington shortly after 11 a.m. on May 15.
Multiple vehicles and homes were reportedly hit by bullets.
According to Farmington Municipal Schools, four nearby schools were shut down within about 15 minutes at the request of the Farmington Police Department.
Farmington is about 150 miles northwest of Albuquerque and about 10 miles south of New Mexico’s border with Colorado.
One victim is said to be a 35-year-old man who was shot in the arm.
A person claiming to work at the San Juan Regional Medical Center described on Facebook the moment an injured officer arrived at the facility.
“I know, we saw the first police cars come in and one of them pulled a cop from the backseat and dragged them in,” they wrote.
āThe entrance to the ambulance is right by my window. There were many ambulances coming and going. Several ems personnel hugging and crying. Entire hospital locked. Made me very sad,” they added.
At the request of Farmington Police Department, four schools were closed at around 11:15 a.m. Monday
Some lockdowns were lifted, but Apache and McKinley Elementary Schools, Central Kitchen and the CATE Center remained locked on Monday afternoon.
The San Juan Regional Medical Center was also reportedly on lockdown.
Officers from the Farmington Police Department, San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, and the New Mexico State Police were investigating the shooting.
