Fortnite is finally adding ranked play

One of the nice things about Fortnite every match is yours to win through a combination of luck, skill and patience. But maybe you want something more. You may want to know that you are the best, and more importantly, for other people who know. You are lucky: Fortnite gets ranked play modes.

During the weekend, Epic games detailed which is probably the biggest addition that comes with the Fortnite‘s 24.40 Update: Ranked play for both Battle Royale and Zero Build modes. As of the update (exact release timing to follow), players will have the option to enable Ranked Mode and progress their way from Bronze to Fortnitehighest honor, Unreal.

Once players enable ranked mode, Fortnite will start matching them with players of a similar rank – those who come into a squad will be matched based on the rank of their best players, and teammates will rise or fall together. And because this is so Fortniteranked play also offers the chance to win cosmetic rewards.

The leaderboard follows a season schedule and begins with a “Season Zero” trial in addition to the 24:40 patch. Season zero will run until the end of the current one Fortnite Season – Chapter 4, Season 3, for those not keeping track – and future ranked seasons will start and end alongside the regular seasons Fortnite seasons.
