Martin Keown slams Sky Sports’ ‘BIASED’ commentary on Arsenal

Martin Keown criticizes Sky Sports’ ‘BIASED’ comment on Arsenal, saying Gary Neville ‘has a problem’ and Martin Tyler ‘can’t hide it HURTS him’ to see the Gunners win after their title collapse

  • Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge came crashing down after a 3-0 defeat to Brighton
  • Martin Tyler and Gary Neville were on the commentary for the game on Sky Sports
  • Former Gunners defenseman Martin Keown criticized their coverage of the game

Martin Keown has criticized Gary Neville and Martin Tyler for their coverage of Arsenal during Sunday’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton.

The Gunners’ title challenge imploded at the Emirates after they were outplayed by Roberto De Zerbi’s side, with Julio Enciso, Deniz Undav and Pervis Estupinan all scoring.

It leaves Mikel Arteta’s team four points behind Manchester City with a game more played, meaning City could win the league next weekend.

The loss to Brighton was broadcast on Sky Sports with Tyler and Neville co-commenting and Keown – an Arsenal legend who won three Premier League titles with the club – was unhappy with their coverage of the match.

“The Sky commentary yesterday,” he shared talkSPORT. How biased is the commentary team? It’s frightening. Honestly!

“Martin Tyler is a great professional but he just can’t hide how it hurts him that Arsenal could win a football game.

‘Oh fair! We know Neville has the problem. He almost apologized when he said we had to send Martinelli off (for a foul on Karou Mitoma) – no, not at all, you go by instinct.

So there you go, there’s a poke in the eye from a commentator. I should be more respectful.

“Martin is a great commentator, but Sky, please don’t put him on Arsenal games anymore, it’s really hard to listen!”

Keown, who regularly appears as a pundit on talkSPORT, BT Sport, BBC and Mail Sport, seemed frustrated with Sky’s coverage and continued to make his point when fellow presenters Jim White and Simon Jordan pressed it.

“Tell me, is Martin Tyler biased?” he continued. “Attract the Arsenal fans. They have to listen to it. There are only 60,000 in the stadium, but millions are listening at home. Ask them what they think?’

White then pressed Keown if he thinks Tyler is anti-Arsenal before an exasperated Keown added, “Yes I do!” Come on, let’s get it out.’
