NSW Central Coast man charged with trying to kill woman after she’s found with multiple stab wounds

A woman is in critical condition in hospital after being stabbed multiple times in a domestic assault.

Police were called to a property in Lake Haven, near Wyong on the NSW Central Coast, at about 9pm Saturday after reports that a woman had been injured.

A 56-year-old woman was found with multiple stab wounds at the intersection of Lake Haven Drive and Stratford Avenue.

The woman was rushed to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Witnesses told police the woman was involved in an altercation with a man she knew in the driveway of a home on Pacific Highway.

The woman ran after neighbors tried to stop the alleged attack, while the man fled after allegedly smashing the windows of her car.

The 68-year-old is said to have broken into a nearby home and caused extensive damage with a hammer.

The police arrested the man in the premises and charged him with a slew of crimes related to domestic violence.

His charges include attempted murder, wounding or grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder, and burglary.

Police arrested the 68-year-old man at a nearby home, where he allegedly broke into and wreaked havoc with a hammer.

The man was denied bail and will appear in Wyong Local Court on Monday.
