NRL legends Andrew & Matthew Johns in sensational fight on live radio featuring unprintable insult

John’s brothers get into a sensational fight on live radio when Andrew hits his brother Matthew with an unprintable insult while berating him for being a traitor to the NSW Blues

  • NRL Icon Brothers didn’t hold back
  • Andrew furious with support for Queensland
  • Brought up Matthew’s short Origin career

Matthew and Andrew Johns are on live radio in a stunning battle for the support of the former to Queensland’s State of Origin team – with the immortal halfback berating his sibling for losing all four interstate games he played .

Andrew lashed out at his sibling for continuing to “s**tbag” the Blues team they both played for in the heated argument on SEN’s Morning Glory show on Friday.

Matthew praised Maroons coach Billy Slater, who led Queensland to a 2-1 victory in last year’s series, despite facing a NSW team that many pundits considered clearly more talented than the Cane Toads.

The elder of the pair called the former Storm icon “close to the best coach in the game”, saying Slater’s players “love him” and the Queensland side have mastered their game plan, while NSW has not do.

That got Andrew thinking and he replied, “I’m tired of you rapping Queensland.”

Matthew Johns told his brother he was “definitely serious” about judging the Cane Toads over the Blues – leading his brother to accuse him of being a traitor to the state he played for

Matthew fired back, saying the Maroons were ‘better’ than their bitter rivals, despite having ‘lesser sides’.

‘Are you serious?’ Andrew asked.

“I’m serious, look at the scoreboard,” said his brother.

That led to the following exchange…

Andrew: ‘Put on your Maroons jersey. You should have some in the house.’

Matthew: “They’re easy to admire.”

Andrew: What? Just because you played four [Origin] games and four lost doesn’t mean you have to s**tbag NSW.

Matthew: “Well mate, you don’t have to be a baker to know that bread is good.”

Andreas: ‘We’ll see. We will see. Put on your Maroons sweater. I couldn’t give it. I’m not even looking at Queensland. I don’t care who they’re going to choose… Keep blowing hot air up their asses. You said they are easy to admire. You grew up hating them.’

While Matthew’s Origin career was relatively short and unsuccessful, his brother made 23 appearances for the Blues, including a legendary man-of-the-match performance in Game Two of the 2005 series.

The pair have clashed many times over the years, with most of their encounters being humorous and good-natured.

Last July, Matthew used a radio debate on State of Origin as an opportunity to lash out at his brother over his love life.

The NSW side are known for dropping stars from their squad on a regular basis – often when fans think they don’t deserve to be shown the door – while Queensland are regarded as more loyal to their players.

Matty used Andrew – who is in his third long-term relationship – to summarize the Blues’ selection process.

“It’s all of NSW. I want people to know… be extremely concerned. Don’t marry someone from NSW because we fall in love with new acquaintances very easily,” he said on SEN.

“What you do is you just get rid of them. Just bring someone else in.

“I mean, the best example is our best player ever, Andrew Johns, I think he’s on the trail of his third wife.”

Last April, the brothers put up a much more united front when they offered to coach Samoa for free.
