KSI defeats Joe Fournier as YouTuber moves closer to Tommy Fury boxing bout

KSI DESTROYS Joe Fournier in round two as ‘The Nightmare’ beats a 9-0 ‘professional’ boxer to remain undefeated… with Brit now looking to fight Tommy Fury, who he clashed with in the ring

  • KSI pulled off a stunning knockout win over Joe Fournier on Saturday night
  • However, replays suggested that the winning blow was an illegal elbow
  • The Misfits event itself was marred by numerous brawls that broke out at ringside

Like it or not, influencer boxing is here to stay. And on Saturday night, in a packed and rocking OVO Arena Wembley, we moved on to even more massive events as KSI emphatically defeated former pro boxer Joe Fournier.

Still, the event was largely marred by a series of unnecessary brawls, seemingly involving boxers Tommy Fury and Isaac Lowe – on several occasions – as well as fans in the audience. As Misfits Boxing looks set to boost its legitimacy, things weren’t looking good. Angers were also heard during the national anthem prior to the fight.

Nevertheless, KSI, or “The Nightmare,” as he goes by, turned out to be just that, as the match – scheduled for six rounds – ended in the second three-minute stanza. Fournier, 40, was down and out and in no shape to continue – although replays showed the final shot may have been an elbow.

Sitting ringside and watching eagerly was a newer member of the influencer scene in Tommy Fury, who of course handed Jake Paul his first loss back in February. Fury and KSI clashed in the ring in the immediate aftermath, and a fight now seems on the cards.

KSI, 29, certainly made a statement as he remained undefeated after seven fights – but, as Paul has discovered – the calls to fight someone his own age will only get louder. And calls to fight against an active and legitimate boxer will.

However, the versatile star has big plans, as both he and his coach Alexis Demetriades told Mail Sport ahead of his latest conquest. Fury and of course Paul are on his hit list.

However, in leading his Misfits brand, those plans extend far beyond his own battles. Misfits Boxing and Prime – KSI’s hydration drink, which sponsored the event – were mostly on full display as this social media star continues to conquer multiple markets.

KSI started the fight quickly and immediately tagged Fournier with the right hand. Fourier was on the canvas on the opening lap and while it was just a slip, it was caused by pressure and the warning signs were there.

Fournier then made a better start to the second round, but he was quick on the canvas after a bat with his right hand, which ended the fight in the blink of an eye. However, as mentioned, replays suggested it may not have been a legal shot.

Earlier in the night, KSI’s younger brother Deji got in on the action, taking on rapper Swarmz in main support.

The Brit put in arguably the best performance of his career, working his way to a unanimous decision victory.

And beforehand, in one of the most highly anticipated periods of the night, Salt Papi – a favorite of Misfits fans – took his toughest test yet against former MMA fighter Anthony Taylor.

The social media star was somewhat exposed, however, as he fell short and lost for the first time as Taylor claimed a much-deserved unanimous decision victory.
