It’s been a year and a half since Britney Spears’ 13-year conservatory ended.

A source revealed that this week People that the most important thing for the mother of two is that she remains a “free” woman.

“She had been under lock and key for 13 years. Have there been ups and downs? Yes,’ the insider explained.

But some of the great things she’s done lately have all been her choice. She’s a survivor. Despite all the ups and downs she goes through, she remains a survivor.’

Spears’ conservatory, which she testified was “abusive” nearly two years ago, was terminated in late 2021, after being placed following a mental health crisis in 2008.

At the time, Spears’ lawyer Mathew Rosengart stated, “What’s next for Britney is up to one person – and this is the first time we can say this in a decade – it’s up to Britney.”

Since then, Britney has been outspoken about her abuse at the hands of her father and others while at conservatory.

The music artist said she was forced to work against her will, in addition to spending an excessive amount of time in a mental health facility.

Details of the controversial relationships between Britney, mother Lynn Spears and sister Jamie-Lynn Spears have hit social media on several occasions.

In February, it was shared with People that Spears’s “inner circle” had to cancel a scheduled intervention for her,” though it was noted that she did see a doctor.

“Britney has become increasingly erratic and those around her have become more concerned,” said a person close to Spears. “She is often up all night, sleeping during [the] day and has much anger.’

It was also reported that things were “really difficult” and “chaotic” when the entertainer was urged to get help.

“Everyone had hoped that Britney could be convinced to get treatment before things got worse, but they knew it wouldn’t be easy,” the person said, adding, “She’s been through a lot and has become more and more combative. ‘

Last month, Spears and husband Sam Asghari were rumored to be going through marital problems when they were each pictured without their wedding rings.

An insider told DailyMail.com that despite reports, all was well between the couple.

“Everything is fine,” the source said, adding, “Sam is working on a project and she’s on vacation with [manager] Cade [Hudson].’

On Friday, Asghari shared a clip of him taking a walk with Britney, grinning next to the blonde star as they posed in front of a stunning ocean view.

“Walk with my wife,” 29-year-old Asghari wrote, treating his three million followers to a glimpse of him and his wife.
