‘Mae, you’ve got a message!’ Celebrities wish UK’s Eurovision entry luck

A host of celebrities wished Mae Muller the best of luck for the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool on Saturday.

In a lovely Instagram video posted to the BBC’s Eurovision account, everyone from Gemma Collins to Judi Dench sent their messages of support for the British entry.

Judi Dench said, “Here’s a good luck message for Mae Muller,” while Gemma Collins was later heard saying, “Mae Muller, the GC loves you honey.”

Sam Ryder, who finished second in the 2022 contest, said: “I want to wish you and everyone the best of luck.”

Meanwhile, Cheryl Baker, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 as part of Bucks Fizz, praised the singer, saying: ‘This is a message for Mae Muller that is magnificent.’

Cheryl continued, “I should be giving her tips and such, but you don’t need them. You’re going to destroy it.’

Meanwhile, other stars, including newsreader Clive Myrie, singer Fleur East and DJ Clara Amfo also sent their words of encouragement to the star.

The post was captioned, “Mae, you got a message,” and in the comments, Mae, who was clearly moved, wrote, “Omg” alongside three crying emojis.

This year’s final will take place in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine, which won last year and is unable to host due to the ongoing war with Russia.

The full list of performers and the running order for Eurovision was confirmed after the final semi-final by Alesha Dixon, Hannah Waddingham and Julia Sanina.

Singers and their supporters could be seen celebrating, clapping and cheering as the announcements were made.

The countries that will put on a breathtaking show on Saturday night are as follows:

Albania, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Serbia, France, Cyprus, Spain, Sweden, Italy, Estonia and Finland.

Also on stage: Moldova, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovenia, United Kingdom, Ukraine, Israel, Croatia, Norway, Germany and Lithuania.

The Eurovision Song Contest final will be broadcast live on 13 May at 8pm UK time on BBC One, BBC IPlayer and the official YouTube channel.

There will also be live commentary on BBC Radio 2, hosted by Rylan Clark and Scott Mills.

Cinema buffs can also catch a glimpse of the spectacular show at Vue Cinemas in the UK.
