Expert reveals how clever Kate and William are rebranding the Royal Family for the new era

The Prince and Princess of Wales are “rebranding” the royal family in a new era of social media and TikTok, an expert claimed.

Brand and culture expert Nick Ede believes William and Kate have “adopted” Harry and Meghan’s media style in new behind-the-scenes footage of the Coronation.

The film, released today, shows a rare glimpse into the life of the couple during the historic coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla last weekend.

It covers many enchanting highlights of the coronation – from public gatherings in London’s Mall to the closing royal concert.

But now that the festivities are over, Mr Ede claims all eyes are on His Majesty’s heirs, who are tactfully trying to show a “more human side” to the family.

He told MailOnline: ‘When Meghan and Harry were part of the royal Sussex brand, they cleverly used social media to communicate, and I think the Prince and Princess saw this trend as something they had to adopt.

This isn’t a new phenomenon for public figures though, stats from Madonna, the Kardashians and everything in between use it to communicate, so it was only a matter of time when the Prince and Princess would employ this clever strategy.

“I think they’re doing a good job of making these short films. They are interesting but also well made, visually appealing and tell a story from a different angle. We are so used to short media with TikTok and Instagram that this is a great way to build a brand.”

The video was shared today by Wales’ official YouTube and Twitter account, courtesy of videographer Will Warr, who also captured their 10th anniversary.

In this way, Mr Ede suggests the pair balance consistency with modernism to ‘keep alive the positive appeal of the royal family’.

He continued, “The behind the scenes trend is one that has been used by celebrities and public figures for many years and the Prince and Princess have realized that social media is a great way to interact with their fans, the media and also their opponents.

“This way of offering insight into their lives allows them to cleverly control the story, but also to show a more human side that the royal family has long been criticized for failing to show. It’s a winning formula that will be well received.”

Despite last week’s festivities, the release comes amid alleged tensions between Harry and Meghan and the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Sources claim Prince William still feels betrayed by his estranged brother, following the scandalous release of Spare earlier this year alongside his telltale Netflix documentary.

While both couples are believed to have used the media to further their own interests, Mr. Ede labeled Harry and Meghan’s film “Americanized propaganda.”

“The Harry and Meghan piece was a glossy Americanized propaganda piece and in reality all behind the scenes movies are a way to create more appeal and be more attractive. The big difference is that the Prince and Princess of Wales use film to communicate in a positive way,” he said.

Meanwhile, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told MailOnline that William and Kate’s video marks a “short record” in history with “very heartfelt significance.”

He said, “The message that came across is his commitment to serve and service was the theme of the weekend.

William and Katherine are the world’s most glamorous royals and the world’s most in-demand royals.

“They also get along so well as a couple – it was a delightful compilation of one of the most memorable weekends in royal history.”

It was this moment that, according to Mr. Fitzwilliams, is central to the five-minute clip, which highlights the family’s commitment to the public.

“They and their family are the future of the monarchy,” he continued.

“It is a concise account of a wonderful, happy and successful royal event that had a very sincere meaning.”
