Canberra star Corey Horsburgh is sent to bin after throwing a punch at Parramatta rival in major brain-blurring moment: ‘He let the team down’
Corey Horsburgh has taken a beating for ‘letting his team down’ after the Raiders star was sinfully thrown out for throwing a punch during Canberra’s match against Parra.
With both sides evenly matched midway through the first term, Horsburgh engaged in a minor altercation that unfolded as the Raiders defended their own try-line on an Eels offense.
Parra star Ryan Matterson nudged one of his Canberra rivals, and an enraged Horsburgh arrived on the scene and threw a punch at the great second rower.
A scuffle ensued, and once the feud was settled, umpire Grant Atkins gave Horsburgh his marching orders.
“You’ve dealt a punch, so you’re going to the trash,” he said.
Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga was far from impressed with Horsburgh’s behaviour.
“I think it’s crazy,” he said on Fox League.
“You just don’t. He then abandoned the team. [He spends] Ten minutes in the bin and Parramatta scores.
“I just feel like that wasn’t the right thing to do.”
