Sam Quek reveals she would represent the UK at Eurovision

Sam Quek has revealed she would consider representing the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, discussing her successful career and ‘mother guilt’.

The former Olympic hockey player, 34, admitted she couldn’t say no to taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest just a day before the 2023 grand final.

In an extended chat with MailOnline, Sam also shared how she would consider joining Strictly Come Dancing, and gave a glimpse into her family life.

Speaking of Eurovision, the Liverpool beauty admitted she is tempted to take part in the iconic Eurovision song contest and would sing a Spice Girls song if she could perform.

When asked if she would ever represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, Sam told MailOnline exclusively: ‘Who wouldn’t say yes to that? How can someone say no?

‘Coming from Liverpool you always do karaoke, whether you’re out with your friends or even with the family at Christmas.

“I’d definitely do some sort of Spice Girls type number.”

Despite wanting to take part, Sam admitted she didn’t realize how big the Eurovision Song Contest was before presenting the turquoise carpet at this year’s contest, which she described as a ‘huge career highlight’.

The proud Scouser further revealed that she would not pass up the chance to appear on Strictly Coming Dancing, if the opportunity came her way.

When asked if she is entering the BBC competition, she said: ‘If it comes at the right time. If it was a viable thing to do, yes, I can’t lie. It’s the only other one I would do [after I’m A Celebrity].’

Sam also gave an insight into her family life as a mum to daughter Molly, two, and son Isaac, 14 months – who she shares with husband Tom Mairs.

The TV personality spoke about balancing her work with motherhood, admitting that she doesn’t “need” to work, but “chooses” to do so because she is passionate about her job.

Sam admitted she would feel “mom guilty” whether she worked or not, and gushed about her “supportive” husband Tom, whom she married in 2018.

She said, “Even if I were a stay-at-home mom, I’d still have mommy guilt.” I would feel like I was too attached to the kids. Every mother feels guilty of her mother in some way.

“I’m so lucky to be in a position where I don’t really have to work, but I choose to work.

“I am so lucky to have a supportive family and an incredible husband who is 100% behind my choice to work. They are really fantastic.

‘I don’t have to work, I choose to work. Working makes me a better mother. I love what I do and I find it so fulfilling which means I’m happy and that means my kids are happy and my husband is happy. It functions.

“I spend so much time with the kids when I’m not working and I love being with them, but I think the balance between working, holding a job and also being a mom is best for us.”

It’s not the first time Sam has spoken of “mother guilt,” as she recently spoke of her struggles returning to work eight weeks after giving birth to her son.

She gave birth to her son two weeks early and was rushed to hospital, where surgeons performed an emergency c-section after she bled uncontrollably.

After two months, Sam returned to work and admitted that the “mother guilt” was real and that she wished she could spend more time with her two young children.

The Question Of Sport star told New! Magazine: “I get a lot of mommy guilt. They’re only young for so long.

“I look back at pictures, especially of Zac, and I can’t remember the first two months, and then I went back to work eight weeks after he was born.”

Sam got pregnant for the second time a little faster than she and her partner expected and said the couple now “definitely have their hands full.”

The athlete previously told OK! magazine: “I think it’s pretty surreal being a family of four, in my opinion.

“I love every minute of it, but it’s very different from having that one baby and being a family of three. We certainly have our hands full.’
