Michael J. Fox shared more details about living with Parkinson’s disease in a new interview with Variety.

The 61-year-old actor told the publication that he suffered several injuries, including a broken shoulder, elbow and hand.

β€œI broke this shoulder – I had it replaced. I broke this elbow. I broke this hand,” he revealed in chat.

Fox was diagnosed with the neurological disorder in 1991 at the age of 29.

He added of his time battling the disease, “I had an infection that almost cost me this finger. I broke my face. I broke this humerus.”

The old actor promotes his new Apple TV+ documentary STILL.

Because the disease makes him more vulnerable, Michael said he “has assistants around me a lot of the time in case I fall.”

He also admitted that the “lack of privacy is hard to deal with.”

In 1998, the Canadian-born Canadian made his diagnosis public.

“I’ve won more awards and had more nominations since I announced my diagnosis,” Michael told the glossy. “People may feel sorry for me, but I prefer to see it as recognition for pursuing a legitimate career.”

In 2020, Michael was forced to retire as he began to struggle with his rules.

Parkinson’s disease has affected his speech, sometimes affecting the way his comments are received.

“Sometimes I have a fleeting moment of disappointment when a really good joke comes out and lands flat because people don’t understand what I’m saying,” Michael opened up.

He explained, “It’s not like you can just repeat it. It’s dead on arrival. But you find ways to navigate through it.’

The movie star recently said he doesn’t believe he will live to be 80 years old.

Despite his premonition, he is positive and looking forward to spending as much time as possible with his family.

β€œI am still happy to join the day and be a part of it. I just enjoy the little math problems of existence,” he said.

β€œI love waking up and figuring things out and being with my family at the same time. My problem is that I fall down. I trip over things and fall and break things.

β€œAnd that’s part of having this. But I hope and I feel that I won’t break so many bones tomorrow. So that’s being optimistic.’

And Fox recently said that the cure for Parkinson’s disease is “closer than ever.”

After years of campaigning and raising more than $2 billion for charity, the actor is optimistic that the disease can be eradicated after a “massive breakthrough.”

During an interview with Lorraine Kelly on Friday’s Lorraine, he said, “I feel [a cure is] closer than ever.

“I think we’ve found this biomarker, which is huge β€” identifying the disease and being able to treat it earlier.”
