A woman who was given up as a baby reunited with her mother after 40 years — before her mother fell in love with the man who adopted her.
Helen Mansfield was given up at the age of 10 by her mother, who was unmarried at the time.
She was adopted by a Welsh couple before marrying an Australian, having two daughters and moving to Perth.
Seven years ago, she took to Facebook in an attempt to track down her birth mother.
Just five hours later, a stranger revealed that Helen’s mother lived in the UK – and soon after, mother and daughter were tearfully reunited.

‘We knew each other right away. (Mom) gave me a big hug and said, ‘I feel like I just won the lottery,'” Helen told 7NEWS.
However, there was another incredible twist in the story after Helen’s mother Glen fell in love with her adoptive father Gwyn.
Helen said she proposed to the couple, who ended up enjoying trips to the cricket and the beach.
This led to a kiss between the two, which a happy Glen reported to a shocked Helen.
Helen admitted she wanted the pair to get together, but said she “didn’t see it coming.”
The pair admitted that there had been an instant “spark” between them, but said a relationship was “out of the question” at the time.

After they shared a kiss, Glen was adamant that their relationship “couldn’t happen” – only for a delighted Helen to encourage them to get together.
Glen and Gwyn married in the UK after a commitment ceremony in Perth, where Helen was the celebrant.
They will fly to Australia later this year to celebrate Gwyn’s 80th birthday and the arrival of a great-grandchild.
Reflecting on the incredible story, Helen urged other people to visit their birth parents.
“I’m just really glad it happened,” she said.
“I hope anyone else who wants to reach out and find their birth mother should try.”
