Rita Ora has spoken out openly about misogyny in the music industry, her breaking of rules 30th birthday party during lockdown and upsetting her mother.

The pop star, who is married to film director Taika Waititi, has claimed her “free-spirited” approach to life since then has had her constantly shamed and scrutinized claiming it’s down to her gender

Rita said, “How do I think women are treated differently? Do you have all day? I’ve had it all my career: having people judge what I’m wearing and say, “Is she too naked?” Or, “Can she say things like that?” I find it extremely misogynistic.’

Due to the constant spotlight on her private life, the singer admitted that she took advice from J-Lo on how to handle it, who told her to go ahead and “ignore the noise.”

As an artist, Rita has been inspired by Madonna to be more outlandish and outrageous with the things she does and says.

In admitting she isn’t perfect, Rita has also revealed that she tries to admit and apologize for her mistakes, rather than running from them.

A scandal in 2020 caused Rita to do just that, after she made headlines and faced backlash for a rule-breaking 30th birthday party during the lockdown.

She admitted that the worst part of her breach of the rules was her mother’s reaction, because she is an NHS worker.

Rita said, “She was mad at me, that was the worst part, seeing her work every day and come home exhausted and knowing what I was doing was of course avoidable.”

She told him she loved him and wanted them to work together one day – and managed to make it happen.

Her music video for the song was directed by Taika, whom she started dating in 2021 after their five-year friendship blossomed into romance.

The clip pays homage to movies from the 70s and 80s, including Flashdance and Fame, and she revealed that she and Taika had the idea for the video while lying in bed one night.

Their message that she wants fans to take from the video is that you don’t have to be perfect in life, just be yourself.

The pop star is happily in love with Taika and described their relationship as amazing, admitting that their wedding was scheduled in just two days.

Because she is constantly in the public eye for her job, Rita wanted the wedding to be completely private.

She was elated because his daughters were there with her sister and her mother and father were on Zoom.

The hitmaker gushed throughout the day saying it was “perfect” and she even got to wear the exact Tom Ford dress that caught her eye in a 2018 fashion show.

The day was so private that her friends didn’t even know she was getting married, but when she told them later, they were thrilled.

Elsewhere, while she’s had a stratospheric rise to fame and enjoys continued success, the star has admitted to making huge sacrifices to make sure her loved ones are okay.

She lives in constant fear that she will go back to the life she had before and it has given her incredible drive.

Rita said her family was neither the richest nor the poorest, describing her childhood as a “middle ground of confusion.”

This was because her parents could let her do the shopping one day but couldn’t pay the next day.

Her success has allowed her to buy a house for her parents, something she was extremely proud of.

Now that she has more stability in her life, Rita revealed that she’s finally starting to live and stop worrying, doing things even though people may not agree with her decisions.
