Shocking moment British tourist ‘attacks tuk-tuk driver’ in Thailand

This is the shocking moment when a British tourist allegedly attacked a tuk-tuk driver in Thailand after his group of friends crashed into the locals’ vehicle.

Video appears to show Jack Hoban, from Manchester, beating Armin Longklang on the island of Phuket during an argument over the alleged crash that saw the Briton’s friends surround locals.

Hoban was riding a rented scooter with a group of friends when one of them allegedly crashed into Longklang’s tuk-tuk on Tuesday evening.

The British began to quarrel with Longkland before Hoban reportedly jumped off his moped and struck the resident twice.

Video allegedly shows Hoban, wearing a black shirt, leaping forward and slamming Longkland to the body with a powerful left and right hook.

But the Briton and his friends were all able to flee the scene when enraged locals tried to run after them in chaotic scenes.

Local police have now arrested Hoban on suspicion of assaulting the tuk-tuk driver.

An investigating officer said: ‘We have tracked down the tourist and identified him as Jack Mark Paul Hoban. We went to his hotel address and took him into custody.’

He was accompanied by another local and taxi driver Khun Adisak, who also filed a complaint with the police that the British rider harassed them during a road accident on the same night.

Speaking to police, Adisak said, “I was waiting for a passenger outside a nightclub. He parked his motorcycle right in front of my cab, so I honked in response.

“But he was furious and gestured with the middle finger at me.”

The taxi driver is said to have answered the British man with the middle finger before the enraged foreigner pounded on his door and fled.

After reviewing footage and CCTV in the area, Paul was later identified and apprehended by police outside a hotel on Wednesday, where he reportedly tried to escape but to no avail.

Officers asked to check his passport but tried to run away but police followed and arrested him.

The British tourist was taken to Patong police station where the drivers positively identified him and pointed to him in the police photos.

Paul was detained while the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
