Bride and Prejudice fake death: Dannii Erskine allegedly ‘in hospital’

The Bride and Prejudice star who was falsely reported dead last week was reportedly seeking treatment at hospital after learning of her own death in the news.

The ‘death’ of Dannii Erskine was announced on May 2 when a person claiming to be her sister Dee claimed her life support was taken off the hospital on April 29, the day after an ‘intoxicated’ driver supposedly ‘towed’ her car in North Melbourne.

But this account was later disputed by Victoria Police and the Coroner, who said no accidents or deaths of this nature had been reported.

In her first public statement since fake reports of her death were published, Dannii said she was in hospital for foot surgery and was also receiving unspecified “mental” care.

She confirmed she was not dead in an incoherent statement to the So dramatic podcastthe outlet that first falsely reported her death.

The statement came in the form of a series of text messages Dannii allegedly sent to a friend who was in contact with So Dramatic.

“In psychiatry because of all this shit and my foot is infected,” one text read.

‘Tell her [Megan Pustetto, the host of So Dramatic] to keep her goddamn mouth shut. I was going to contact her, but I’ve been unwell all week.

The alleged lyrics included threats to sue the media for falsely reporting Dannii’s death without a “confirmed source,” saying the news should never have been published based solely on an email claiming to be from her to be sister.

In a separate statement to So dramatic onlinethe podcast’s sister website, Dannii confirmed she was alive and explained that the death hoax was the result of her Instagram account being hacked.

“On April 29, 2023, my Instagram account was hacked,” she said on Wednesday.

The statement continued that Dannii had received a Gmail notification that the hacker lived in the Geelong area and that police would “look into it.”

“I spoke to my family who advised me to focus on my soon-to-be [foot] operation,” the statement continued.

Dannii had been in a car accident, the statement claimed, but that was in September 2022 — not April 28 this year — and it was far from fatal.

The accident resulted in a serious ankle injury that kept her home for six months and required multiple hospitalizations, including rehabilitation.

She underwent ankle reconstruction this week.

Dannii also addressed a mysterious email sent to So Dramatic, supposedly from her sister Dee, during the hack saga.

“I was advised not to comment. My sister never emailed So Dramatic. All I know is that it was sent by someone who hacked into my account,” she said.

“I spent all week in the hospital for an ankle reconstruction. I can’t control what the media says, but I was advised by doctors to focus on my foot recovery.’

Dannii’s “death” was announced on May 2 by the So Dramatic podcast.

A person falsely claiming to be her ‘sister’ Dee said she died in hospital following a horrific car crash in North Melbourne, which left her brain dead.

‘If [Dannii] went through a green light, a driver was drunk and T-banged her. She was alive and taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital,” said the person who falsely claimed to be her sister via email.

“She passed away on the morning of the 29th [of April] at 12:01 am… She will be loved, sorely missed and it was a terrible tragedy. Please be safe on the roads. This can happen to anyone.’

That claim was subsequently disputed by Victoria Police and the coroner, who said no accidents or deaths of this nature had been reported at the time.
